From 1991 to 2007, I had the privilege of being mentored by one of the greatest leaders I’ve ever known — Bill Britt.

Bill didn’t just teach me business strategies. He taught me something far more powerful: belief, resilience, and vision. He wasn’t just a leader — he was a force of nature.

One of his most famous lessons still echoes in my mind:

“I simply showed the plan to 1,200 people. 900 said no. 300 signed up. 85 did something. 35 were serious. 11 made me a millionaire.”

There’s no magic trick here. No shortcut. Just persistence. Just grit. Just the courage to keep showing up when most would quit.

And that’s exactly what I call The Motivation Equation: 👉 Dreams × Belief = Motivation

Bill’s dreams were massive. His belief was unshakable. And the result was a legacy that will outlive us all.

But Bill didn’t stop there. He also gave us a framework to live and lead by — what he called The Three Powers.

1️⃣ The Power of the Spoken Word

Bill understood that words shape worlds. He taught us to speak vision, faith, and possibility into others — long before they could see it themselves. Just as Napoleon Hill wrote about the power of autosuggestion , Bill used language as fuel for belief.

2️⃣ The Power of Unity

Bill knew success was never a solo act. He created cultures where teams moved as one, where egos bowed to mission, and where “I” became “we.” As Simon Sinek reminds us, people don’t just buy what you do — they buy why you do it . Unity around a shared WHY was Bill’s secret glue.

3️⃣ The Power of Submission

Not submission as weakness, but as strength — the humility to learn, to follow a proven system, and to surrender ego in pursuit of something bigger. It echoed Daniel Pink’s principle of purpose : the drive that comes when we align our actions with a cause beyond ourselves.

Bill didn’t just talk about these powers — he practiced them relentlessly. His words inspired. His unity built movements. His submission to principles created a legacy that continues to multiply.

This isn’t just a story about network marketing. It’s a universal truth about success:

• Angela Duckworth’s research on grit shows that perseverance beats talent every time . Bill embodied that.
• Carol Dweck’s growth mindset teaches us that setbacks aren’t failure, they’re feedback Bill lived that.
• David Schwartz reminded us in The Magic of Thinking Big that the size of our thinking determines the size of our success . Bill proved that.

On his birthday, I honor the GOAT of Network Marketing — Bill Bernard Britt (1931–2013).

Your voice still guides us. Your legacy still fuels us. And a new generation of leaders now walks the trail you blazed.

Happy Birthday in Heaven, mentor. Rest in peace, Bill Britt.
